How my journey began . . .

With a passion for teaching music, Katy Stevens has been a private piano and voice instructor since 1989.

Katy grew up in a musical family in Central Ohio and has been performing since the age of three. She majored in vocal performance at the University of Akron in Akron, Ohio. She holds a bachelor’s degree in worship arts from West Coast Bible College and Seminary. Katy has also been leading worship since 1996. She has sung on several recording projects, including releasing her CD, Finding Me, in 2006. Katy enjoyed the privilege of singing the National Anthem at a Baltimore Orioles game in June of 2018.

She currently runs a private music studio in Baltimore, Maryland, and over the years, has taught more than 500 students in piano, voice, ukulele, music theory and flute. She also actively teaches at musical theatre camps and workshops and is currently the music director at Salem United Methodist Church in Upper Falls, Maryland.

When Katy isn’t making music, she enjoys co-hosting “The Mo and Katy Show” podcast and trivia with her best friend, Mo. She also sings with a women’s barbershop quartet, Twist of Fate. This extreme extrovert enjoys laughing with friends, board and card games, live theatre, improv, traveling, crafts, escape rooms and copious amounts of coffee and chocolate.

She has been married to her husband, Matt, since August of 1992 and together they have three young adult sons on earth; Joshua, Micah, and Jacob, and one son in heaven, Caleb. Katy also enjoys the unconditional love of her dogs, Raiven, Boh and Nalah.
